JSP MAIL — Privacy, security and reliability
Email is confidential communication. Protection and clarity therefore belong in the system architecture from the outset.
Intended requirements
Access and accounts
We intend to address access management, account recovery, session protection, encrypted connections and understandable alerts about suspicious logins. The design must also account for users who do not have a mobile phone.
Email standards
Sending and receiving email requires correctly administered mail servers, domain records, SPF, DKIM and DMARC. Anti-spam measures, malware controls and abuse prevention are also essential.
Privacy and user control
Users should understand what data is stored, why it is stored, for how long, how it can be exported and how deletion is handled. We must not falsely claim end-to-end encryption before it has been demonstrated.
Current development status
A secure architecture is a design requirement. Penetration testing, email deliverability and production security have not yet been demonstrated.
What remains to be demonstrated
A complete release requires usability tests, security reviews, migration options, independent quality criteria and clear user support. We will not describe a product as available without evidence that it operates.
